Mrs. Davis and Mr. Napolitano
Welcome to the Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary Physical Education and Health web page. This page is designed to provide information to parents and students regarding curriculum as well as student requirements for participation.
The Physical Education curriculum is designed to include a variety of lifetime activities, fitness concepts, and movement experiences. These activities and experiences will help to promote and develop gross-motor skills and overall student fitness. In addition, the district-wide “Character Education” program based upon Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success is an integral part of the physical education curriculum and is routinely addressed and reinforced.
In order for students to actively engage in physical education classes proper footwear is required. Students should wear rubber soled sneakers that fit properly. In the event that sneakers do not have laces, student footwear should remain secure at all times. In the event that a student is wearing shoes with a “high heel” or has "open toes" (sandals), they will not be permitted to participate. However, students can bring sneakers to school and change before class. Certain types of jewelry may potentially present a safety issue. For example, a student may be asked to remove earrings that are very large or dangling for fear they might get caught on clothing during an activity. Preparation is essential to educational success.
Below you will find the Physical Education Yearly Plan that provides information about our curriculum and instructional units for grades K-6.
